Doctor Angelicus 27
Thomas uses often the words "id est" to explain what he just wrote.
I join the output of a program which scans the Opera Omnia and finds all the uses of expression "id est". The program finds 4793 uses of the expression.
Before running the program, I thought that mainly explanations of Hebrew or Greek words were to be found. But this is not at all the case. Most of time, Thomas explains latin expression in matter of simple meaning or of theological connexions.
The same can be done with expressions "hic est", "haec est" and "hoc est" which are however of more general use.
Greek words are often used by Thomas with no warning and are difficult to detect since the Opera Omnia don't use Greek characters.
